In Providing Psychotherapy, I’m Here to Listen, Guide, and Work.
Are you struggling to set aside your anxiety to get what you want out of life? Getting outside of our comfort zone can be very overwhelming and limit our productivity, cause us to give up on our dreams, or even settle on things we do not want. Anxiety and fear can stifle our spirit and make it confusing on how to break through that emotional turmoil and obstacle.
Do you have trauma that seems to be preventing the fulfillment of your desires? Trauma and PTSD can highjack out thoughts, emotions, and body to the point where our wants and needs are unrecognizable. We can feel as if we are just surviving through each trigger. As a trauma therapist, I can help navigate these difficult situations because working through the triggers can seem daunting when doing it alone.
Do you have difficulty in relationships with partners, friends, or family? Whether dealing with codependency, conflict, isolation, mistrust, or giving up your own wishes to keep harmony, patterns can seem fixed and cause relational dissonance and disconnection. Unhealthy patterns can be changed when one gains awareness of them and develops a plan for change in counseling.
Does depression destroy your motivation and fuel to do what’s just outside your grasp? The heaviness of depression can zap us of energy, zest, and ambition. We feel stuck and depression can even rob us of the want to change things.
If you are seeking psychotherapy, whether for depression, anxiety, relationship conflicts, or trauma, let me help!
As a certified trauma therapist, my focus is to help individuals heal, energize, and become aware of their inner strengths, struggles, and flexibility. I achieve this through counseling by bringing awareness to unhealthy, maladaptive pattern styles, shed light on how they were even started, and work with you to enhance your ability to not only tolerate change, but to maximize its beneficial opportunities. Trauma lives in the body and the body tries to protect. We will work together to help your body rework and relearn more flexible ways of protecting you. I will listen to your concerns and wants to customize a treatment plan and give you psychoeducation to use at your discretion.
I promise to be there for you every step of your journey. My goal through counseling is to help you grow from your struggles, heal from your pain, and move forward to where you want to be in your life. Let’s unlock your power together! It is easy to feel alone in the world. Vulnerability can be scary and difficult. But a brand new perspective is waiting. You can fulfill your desires and destiny. All the answers you need to set your life on the desired track are within you. Just like the chrysalis, the transformation is waiting to be unlocked. It may seem dark, but I can hold the lantern.
I worked as a mental health technician at an inpatient behavioral hospital for over seven years to gain experience with the true needs of the chronically mentally ill and those in crisis. I worked myself through the masters program at Loyola University New Orleans and was promoted to a therapist at that behavioral hospital. I have worked with over 2500 patients, ran two psychotherapy groups daily, conducted crisis assessments/interventions, and sharpened my therapeutic skills in a fast and unpredictable environment. I not only have experience with chronic mental illness, but with community outreach, case management, and a vast variety of individuals from all backgrounds.
I approach counseling through a family systems lens where attachment and multigenerational family patterns can unknowingly dictate or influence behaviors and interactions. I believe that maladaptive patterns can be broken to give way to authenticity and fulfillment. As a certified clinical trauma professional, I utilize sensorimotor psychotherapy interventions to focus on and address how the body holds trauma. Understanding the relationship between the body, emotions, and thoughts can bring self-awareness. Self-awareness can unleash power and great potential for positive change.
Embrace change. It's within you.
"Only as the you becomes present does presence come into being." Martin Buber.
